Not in the TV series itself, but David Tennant provided voice work for the "Scream of the Shalka" (webcast) and for several Big Finish audio dramas, and also narrated the very first pre-series installment of Doctor Who Confidential before being cast. Richard E. Grant, who played the "Shalka Doctor" in "Scream of the Shalka" had previously appeared as another version of the Doctor in the non-canon spoof "The Curse of Fatal Death", and later went on to play The Great Intelligence in Series 7 making him the first actor to play a Doctor who went on to play another character. Tom Baker was the second, if his "The Day of the Doctor" character, the Curator, turns out not to be a future Doctor after all...
