The Sonic Screwdriver that they were carrying was the same basic technology, especially its software (although the outer casing had changed over the years). Thus, the War Doctor could make a scan of the door, and program the Sonic Screwdriver to try and figure out how to unlock it. Since the Eleventh Doctor was approximately four hundred years later in the Doctor's personal timestream, the Eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver had about four hundred years to figure out how to get through the door.
