Is Rory Romana? Edit

Our edits of this one collided but we seem to be expressing the same thought! -- 15:32, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

"Is Rory..." questions Edit

We've had "Is Rory the Master?", "Is Rory Romana?" & now "Is Rory the Doctor's son?". I wonder what other "Is Rory..." questions we'll get. A few I can think of are "... the Rani?", "... the Master's son?", "... the Rani's son?", "... Jenny's son?", "... the other Jenny's son?". If Vastra weren't so obviously Silurian, I expect someone would suggest he's her son (or even Vastra herself in disguise). There are some very s t r a n g e people out there! -- 07:13, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

User Edit

If you look at User talk:, you'll find he's deleted your post. He's done that with several messages asking him to stop misbehaving. It's his User talk page, of course, so that's not on a par with deleting messages to other users. -- 05:34, September 18, 2012 (UTC)

Transferred from User talk (because my IP address changes frequently & it'll get lost, otherwise):

I can't really say that I'm surprised. He must have at least read the message before deleting it, so there's at least an off chance that he'll listen to it. I'm not going to bother putting my message back, because getting into an edit war with someone on their own talk page would be beyond stupid.Icecreamdif (talk) 16:47, September 18, 2012 (UTC)

[End of transferred text]

No point bothering at all. After all, if anyone really needs to see the deleted message, it's still in the change log for that page, anyway. -- 17:10, September 18, 2012 (UTC)

The Master Edit

a)What is the first word the Doctor uses to describe the Master? Look it up in a dictionary.

b)The Master's hypnotism

c)The Doctor is (originally) unthreatened by the Master. he would have been happy to have gone blundering into the Tower had the Time Lord not warned him.

d)(Not a proof of that, but disproving something else) The Doctor and Master don't recognise each other's voices when they speak on the telephone. This means that BOTH have regenerated since they last met. The Troughton Doctor could not have met the Delgado Master before.

e)The Master's MO is the same as the War Chief' himself with a powerful alien force, which he ultimately plans to betray and take power for himself.

f)The Doctor steals a vital piece of the Master's TARDIS, trapping him on Earth.

(g)read the chapter on Terrance Dicks iwn novelisation. It states that "the Master" is a new name, that he attempted to take over the universe, but the Doctor betrayed him to the Time Lords. His punishment would have been being removed from existence, but he managed to escape, and now wants revenge against the Doctor. The Time Lords tracked him leaving his base, but then lost track of him for a while, only to pick him up again when he appeared on Earth(presumably at Rossini's circus)....Hey, you know what would be an interesting question? if someone found out what happened to the Master during the time he was off the Time Lords' scanner. 05:11, September 19, 2012 (UTC)

User 41 causing trouble yet again Edit

User 41 has latched on to How many movies have been made? as a way to start another edit war. He added a comment with no relevance to the question or answer as a way of importing the "canon" controversy -- one of his favourite hobbyhorses. -- 15:25, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

No. it's you and your meat puppet friend. Read what he/they have written. I will try and tidy up the mess of an answer that exists now. 15:28, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

Icecreamdif: Thanks for the response. As long as 41 leaves the answer alone (he can say what he likes on the Talk page -- politely, I hope), I've no problem with it. If 41 has a legitimate point about the facts in the answer, that ought to be taken into account. If his point relates only to the opinions people might form on the basis of the facts, that belongs on the Talk page, not in the answer itself. If 41 changes the answer, I'll let you know. I reserve the right to agree with him, though, if I think he's got a good point. -- 16:45, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

Icecreamdif: I've just noticed that, on the question's Talk page, you said "the differences between the show and the TV series" when I think you mean "the differences between the movies and the TV series". -- 18:14, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

User: Edit

User: has gone on a spamming spree, asking ridiculous questions. I've tagged a few of them for deletion, just giving you a heads up for when you eventually get your admin powers. 17:04, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

And he's at it again. Checking the Wiki Activity shows he's been on another spamming spree. Someone's already marked the pages for deletion however. 13:33, October 6, 2012 (UTC)

User has posted What does canon mean? I'm not sure it isn't a genuine question but it's certainly risking trouble & would bear watching. (By the way, I'm usually 89 or 2 but I'm 78, this time, so no real point replying on my user talk page -- it won't be mine for long.) -- 21:43, October 6, 2012 (UTC)

User has vandalised Talk:Who is the next companion, though the vandalism was reverted almost immediately by another user. Despite repeated assurances by that he'd stop misbehaving, he has not stopped. I've posted a warning to his User talk page. If he doesn't take it, he'll be the next one Wikia Support has to deal with -- unless you've got admin rights in time to deal with him yourself. (I'm 2 just now but that won't last.) -- 18:30, October 10, 2012 (UTC)

  • He's been inserting speculation and potentially false information several times in that question (and I believe many others). He's put in that the companion is called Clara even though nothing about the companion has been announced. I'm the user in this page, I have a wireless router that gets reset pretty frequently so my IP will change often. 01:38, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

I'll respond here since your IP keeps changing. It seems that 95's more recent vandalism has been due to ignorance of the rules more than to an actual intent to vandalise. I'll leave another message on his talk page, and hopefully he will stop so that he won't have to be banned.Icecreamdif (talk) 01:59, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

His seeming vandalism of the Talk page might have been because he mistook it for the answer itself but, even so, he ought not to have been putting "clara oswin or oswin oswald" in the answer, either. In overwriting the Talk page, he was actually overwriting an explanation of why he ought not to have been putting that (or anything else) in the answer.

As you say, we can hope he stops. I've warned him but not yet reported him, because the instances of wrongful edits (whether malicious or innocent) that I've found were all made before I posted the warning, so they're not evidence he's ignoring it. I found one wrongful edit after I'd posted the warning but the log shows it was made beforehand.

He has no good reason for feeling aggrieved, however. It's his own fault that he's now so readily suspected of vandalism. He did spend considerable time & effort performing undoubtable acts vandalism previously. With his track record, even a genuine mistake that looks like vandalism is going to be thought to be vandalism. Because of his track record, he needs to be ultra-careful for quite a long time. Maybe this should be explained to him on his User talk page. If so, I don't think it ought to be me who posts the message -- he might think I'm persecuting him or something. It'd be better coming from someone he'll regard as a bit more neutral than he probably thinks I am. (I'm 89 again now, no longer 2.) -- 03:32, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

He's apologized again, but I'll leave another message on his talk page to try to get the message across, incluing some of what you just suggested.Icecreamdif (talk) 18:53, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

I've just read your message. It seems fine & is certainly more tactfully expressed than I'd have managed. -- 22:22, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

Question that needs moved to Watercooler Edit

The question Shiny mirror plate in the Tardis (in Angels Take New York DRW uses it as a mirror) says the Tardis Engine was made at Rolls Royce... Like, WHAT? urgently needs to be moved to the Watercooler forum. Not only is that where it belongs but also it's attracting a bunch of nincompoops who can't tell the difference between "Edit" & "Add category". The result is that "categories" are being added with names that run to several lines in length. -- 22:55, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

I saw your reply. Thanks. I ought to have said that I'm the one with the ever-changing IP address. It's just luck that I spotted the reply in the list of recent activity & that I'm still on the same session, so the address hasn't changed yet. -- 01:21, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

User: Edit

Hi again, this user has also gone on a spamming spree. Adding nonense replies to several questions such as How come the doctor did not notice miracle day, How did the daleks know the doctor survived lake silencio , and Are the cherubim in The Angels Take Manhattan actually Weeping Angel young or are they just weeping angels in a different form. Just another heads up. [Unsigned but History indicates, 09:26, October 7, 2012 (UTC)]

I found a vandalised question that the above user (assumed to be 123) had missed. Please note that 202's replies aren't just nonsense, they consist of vulgar language. (I'm the one with the ever-changing IP address, so don't waste time replying to a talk page that won't be mine for long.) -- 10:16, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

I've just had to revert a load of new vandalism by this user -- a mixture of personal attacks on Steven Moffat & simple obscenities. He's already been told to stop & hasn't stopped, so he needs to be stopped. (I'm 2.something, this time, so again don't waste time replying to a talk page that won't be mine for long.) -- 20:56, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

89/2.101/whatever your IP is now-Since you don't want me to bother posting on your ever-changing talk page, I'll post here and hope that you read it. Since, for whatever reason, I still haven't been granted admin powers, there isn't much that I can do that you haven't already done. Somehow, I don't think that simply asking him to stop will do much good. Have you reported him to Wikia yet, as you warned him that you will? If you would like, I can report him, but I wanted to check if you'd done it first. Thank you for helping to revert the vandalism and for warning the vandal on his talk page. I really do hope that Wikia processes my request soon, because this would all be much easier if we had an active admin.Icecreamdif (talk) 22:11, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

No. I checked the messages that asked him to stop & they didn't actually warn him what would happen if he didn't. Accordingly, I gave him an explicit warning. I was tempted to add a quote but decided not to, as it might have seemed too friendly: "You get one warning. That was it." (Ten to Finch, School Reunion) If he doesn't take the warning, I'll follow through on what I said. -- 22:53, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. It might be as well if it is me who contacts Wikia, since that will show that we really do need an active admin & it's not just you getting power-hungry or something. -- 22:57, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

User 202 has done us the favour of posting a couple of very obviously unacceptable "contributions" that are timed well after my warning to him. I have therefore sent a message to Wikia Support asking for help in dealing with the vandal. It's for them to decide what action to take, now. -- 13:09, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

  • But is any of this going to do any good? I just flagged for deletion a couple of very suspicious-looking questions, one of which refers to 202 in a way that suggests 202 posted it. But it shows it coming from 95 now. As 2 points out, these IP addresses change - mine does as well, every few days (not manually - my ISP does it automatically). I hate to say it, and I'd prefer it not be this way having had some extremely unpleasant experiences with trolling the last time I registered a user name with a wiki (which is why I only post as an IP if I can help it), but if Icecreamdif gets his admin status, the only way to fix this (or at least reduce this) is to require registration. Yet, at the same time, it sort of defeats the purpose of a Q&A wiki; this isn't like Tardis Index File where folks are creating and editing articles on subjects. But people are abusing this site, and I don't mean the clueless who think it's a medical site either. 15:11, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

Once I get my admin status, I will be able to ban vandals more immediately than we can now, going through Wikia. Hopefully, they will just get bored of us once they are banned, rather than waiting for their IP to change and vandalising again. We get vandals all the time, but most of them are not too persistent, so I don't think it would be necessary to make everyone register.Icecreamdif (talk) 15:43, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

I've got a feeling that 202 and 95 are only spamming because they know they can get away with it. All we can do for now is tell them not to do it. We can't punish them or anything. Doesn't help that we don't have admins. 16:12, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

Im sorry for spamming but i just wanted to see if i could get an answer from 202,the real trouble, from now on i know where the talk page is,i don't vandal like the other person, just sometimes i spam doctor who questions, but i must stop, but i was trying to catch 202 in the sorry for causing trouble, but as i said i was trying to catch the vandal by spamming and i like to catch the bad guy and what does [UTC] mean?. 17:32, october 8,2012[UTC]

my ip address stays the same so im not 202.thanks.95.147:.95.91 17:40, october 8,2012[UTC]

  • I stand corrected then re: 95, though using the system to try and "draw out a spammer" just makes things worse and also gives 202 the attention he/she appears to crave. As Icecreamdif says, the hope is they'll just get bored and go away. The only reason 202 and others are causing problems is because they can get away with it, rather than them going to big Wikipedia or Tardis Index File where they're more likely to be banned. 17:17, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

User 202 has been reported, so it's for Wikia Support to decide on their action.

I note, though, that a user with the IP address has posted some questions that raise the "canon" issue & are therefore inviting trouble, so protestations about being "sorry for spamming" may not be worth a great deal. (I'm back to 89, now.) -- 17:23, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

i actually know nothing about canon never seen old audios,im not starting a debate about canon,i hardly and truly do not know what it is,i want it explained in less detail,im not trying to just wandering what paul cornell is connected to canon.95.147.95 1830, 8 october 2012[UTC] also what does UTC mean?

  • I'd keep a close eye on those "Is X canon?" questions since they have a habit of stirring debate and edit wars. UTC is the time zone. 17:34, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

i must stop now,i will stop spamming,"because i have become a mighty spammer time and an oncoming troll to step back into the shadows or else i could create groups like the silence who want to get me off this site and report me"maybe if i cause more trouble i'll get my data wiped, but if i return the question 95 might be asked"sorry a quote similiar to the doctor.what i was on this site is what the doctor was to the universe. 18:42, october 8 2012 [UTC]

thanks for telling me what UTC is. 18:42, october 8 2012[BST]

I received word from Wikia Support -- timed at 21:48, October 8, 2012 (UTC) -- that they've blocked IP address In the past, when they've blocked a user temporarily, they've specified the period for which the block would be effective. They didn't do so, this time, so I assume the block is permanent. Given the nature of 202's vandalism, that wouldn't surprise me. They also moved unusually rapidly -- about 6 hours, instead of the usual couple of days -- so it's clear they took the issue very seriously. (I'm back to being 89, instead of 2.) -- 12:59, October 9, 2012 (UTC)

  • That might indicate that 202 was causing trouble elsewhere, too. 13:29, October 9, 2012 (UTC)

Admin at last! Edit

Congratulations on getting admin status at last. (I'm usually 89 but...) -- 21:12, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the congragulations, I guess. I've been deleting pages for over an hour, so at least we won't have quite as much spam now, but it is a painfully tedious task.Icecreamdif (talk) 21:14, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

  • Congratulations as well - and my sympathies re: having to deal with the deletions and stuff. Are you starting to feel like Ben Browder's character in A Town Called Mercy yet? 22:45, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your sympathies. I'm doing them in alphabetical order, and I'm already up to "D", so only 22 more letters to go! I feel exactly like Ben Browder's character, because being an Admin on this site is just as exciting as being an old west sheriff is. I'm sure I'll get into a gun fight with some vandals at high noon tomorrow.Icecreamdif (talk) 22:50, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Just as long as your darling doesn't forsake you... -- 22:53, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Recent Wiki Activity page - Missing "Show more" link Edit

The "Show more" link at the foot of the Recent Wiki Activity page seems to have vanished. Any idea what's happened to it? (Note: I'm the one with the ever-changing IP address, so reply here, please.) --, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

That's weird. It's still there on my computer. I don't really know much about the tech stuff, so you'd probably be better off contacting Wikia with that problem. What browser are you using?Icecreamdif (talk) 04:38, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

I normally use Firefox but I've just visited the page in Internet Explorer & in Google Chrome. The link's missing in them, too. I'll contact Wikia. I'll be able to eliminate the browser as a possible culprit when I do so & I'll also be able to say the link's present for other users. It's still there for me on the TARDIS Index File's Recent Wiki Activity page, just not on the Doctor Who Answers one. Thanks. Getting more information's always useful. -- 06:39, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

I've contacted Wikia & had to change the subject line of the message at the last minute. The original version was: "Missing link on Recent Wiki Activity page of Doctor Who Answers". I changed it to "Missing feature..." because the original could be amusingly misunderstood. -- 07:23, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

The link has now reappeared. (I'm 2, instead of 89, this time.) -- 14:37, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Glad to hear it.Icecreamdif (talk) 15:51, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

It has vanished again! This is getting silly. -- 16:47, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

That's weird. Unfortuanetly, there is not much that I can do about it. You'll just have to wait until you hear back from Wikia. Sorry.Icecreamdif (talk) 16:49, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

I've been trying a few experiments -- all unsuccessful, so far -- & I'll be able to give them a list of quite a few things that don't fix the problem. When you're trying to diagnose something like this, that's useful. (I'm a software developer, so I'm more accustomed to being on the support end of problems than on the user end! Unfortunately, I don't know the guts of the software Wikia uses.) -- 17:19, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

I've finally had a response from Wikia. They say it's a problem that affects only Answers wikis, not other types, & also only affects some users. They obviously don't know what's causing it, never mind how to fix it. That's not surprising, since intermittent & selective bugs are extremely difficult to diagnose. I'm going to send them my observations of how the thing behaves. The more information they have about it, the better for them. -- 01:45, October 19, 2012 (UTC)

Possible personal attack in question Edit

You might want to make this question disappear quickly: . It may not have been intended this way, but given Levine's controversial status in fandom (as well as being a rather rotund fellow as I recall), this can easily be interpreted as a personal attack. 17:27, October 14, 2012 (UTC)

  • Good work taking care of it so quickly. There are a lot of delete tags, but that one just had to go. 01:33, October 15, 2012 (UTC)

Forum pages Edit

User Imamadmad has tagged 4 pages (that I know of, there may be more) for deletion on the grounds that opinion questions are against the site's policies. All 4 of these pages are Forum pages, where opinion questions are allowed -- that's what the forum is for. The pages are Forum:If you had a TARDIS, where would you go, Forum:Best companion of the Eighth Doctor, Forum:Best companion of the Eleventh doctor & Forum:Best companion of the Eleventh Doctor. For some reason, none has the Watercooler header template it ought to have -- possibly omitted or deleted by mistake -- & I can't find them in the list of Watercooler topics. Two of them need to be merged, because they're identical except for the capitalisation of "Doctor" & all need to be put properly into the Watercooler but they shouldn't be deleted. I've removed the deletion tags but I don't know how to do the rest of what needs done.

I know Imamadmad meant well but she shouldn't be tagging forum pages for deletion & I've left her a message pointing out that opinion questions are allowed in the forum.

My IP address changes frequently, so don't reply to my User talk page -- it won't be mine for long. -- 04:59, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. I've corrected he/him to she/her in the above, as I've found out from elsewhere that Imamadmad is female. -- 10:45, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

It seems like the problem has been dealt with now. Sorry I didn't get back to you till after the problem was resolved, but it seems to have happenned while I was asleep.Icecreamdif (talk) 14:25, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

"Sleep is for tortoises!" (The Doctor, The Talons of Weng Chiang)

It's not a problem. Imamadmad not only stopped tagging the things for deletion but also figured out how to put the pages into the Watercooler, where they belong. Did it pretty quickly, too. (I seem to have changed from 89 to 92.) -- 16:51, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

Obscene spam Edit

I've just had to rename a question to Obscene material removed. If you look at its History, you'll see why. The spam was posted by User Don't post to my Talk page, it'll soon change. -- 05:11, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, and renaming the page. I've deleted it, and blocked 71.Icecreamdif (talk) 15:07, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

No problem. It's not the first time I've had to rename a page that way. It probably won't be the last. I pointed out to 71 that this isn't an "adults only" site. (Mind you, that ought to have been pretty obvious, seeing as we get questions about SJA!) Anyway, it's just not believable that the original question could have been posted in good faith. It was intended to be obscene spam & 71 knows it. (I seem to be 2, now.) -- 15:19, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that's pretty obvious. If I thought that he intended it to be anything other than obscene spam, then I would have given him a warning before I blocked him. Still, I made the block temporary because we can always hope that he tries to be productive in the future, or at least that he isn't committed enough to vandalising this site to wait a week and then post more obscene questions.Icecreamdif (talk) 16:04, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

We seem to have had much less vandalism since you got admin rights & became able to do something about it. We'll always get some but the volume of it we were getting was obviously because the vandals could see nothing was being done about it. If 71 does try it again, he'll need to be dealt with but the fact that he knows he can & will be dealt with may be deterrent enough. Even if it doesn't deter him, it will deter others & keep the problem from getting out of hand again. -- 00:24, October 26, 2012 (UTC)

Can you unblock please? Edit

Do you think you could unlock Who taught River Song to fly the TARDIS so it can be updated with the latest info as mentioned on the talk page? Thanks. Imamadmad (talk) 08:08, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Imamadmad (talk) 08:13, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

Question "Are the doctor who comic books like the t.v. series?" Edit

The question Are the doctor who comic books like the t.v. series? looks like it has turned into a battlefield of POV-pushing. The combatants, in this case, are 70 & (what a surprise!) 41.

It's so poorly worded a question, in the first place, that it's impossible to tell if any of the vast quantity of verbiage in the answer has anything to do with what the questioner was trying to find out. Personally, I think the thing ought to have been deleted long ago for being too vague.

I don't want tag the thing now -- or have anything to do with at all -- because 41 will simply cause more trouble if I do. Nonetheless, something does need to be done about it. -- 17:17, November 11, 2012 (UTC)

It didn't need to turn into "a battlefield of POV-pushing", yes, the original question wa vague, but 70 gave a deliberately misleading/false answer. People have linked to the BBC policy here before. 70 simply chooses to ignore it. Are the comics like the t.v. seroes? No, one is a comic and one is a tv show. But, again, BBC continuity policy makes clear that they can't incorporate elements from non-tv media into the tv show. If they want to, they have to introduce it from scratch as something completely new(eg. Human Nature). If you want to tag that question as "too vague", go ahead. But please don't make false accusations, and answer questions inaccurately. 18:23, November 11, 2012 (UTC)

Whether or not it needed to, it now has turned into that. Anyway, as I said above, there's no way of knowing if the topic that's being discussed has anything to do with what the questioner actually wanted to know, because that questioner didn't indicate "like" in what way. For all we can tell from the wording, he/she might just want to know if the comic books tell the same kinds of stories or tell them in a similar way.

The basic problem is that the question is too vague for any of us to know what kind of answer was being sought. I can't clarify the thing, you can't & 70 can't. The only person who can is the original questioner, who needs to ask a new, more specific question. -- 18:46, November 11, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I took a couple of days to respond, but I haven't had a chance to visit this site in a couple of days. I have deleted the question, because it is clearly too vague to be given a proper answer, even if we ignore the POV-pushing issues.Icecreamdif (talk) 23:59, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. If I'd spotted the thing before the arguments got under way, I'd have tagged it. Once they'd started, It'd have been asking for trouble to do so, as it'd have looked like I was joining the (futile) argument. -- 12:37, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

User 41 again Edit

Take a look at 41's recent "contributions" to the Forum:Site's Policies discussion. He's bleating that he wants to be treated with respect when he is already receiving more respect than he merits & far, far more than he shows to others. He needs to be told in no uncertain terms that he should not expect to get away with falsehoods about me (or anyone else), since they constitute an abuse of the site. -- 14:37, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Who are you? What did I ever say about you? And please don't use words like "bleating". 14:41, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

This "report" here is this user's first post ever on this Q&A site. I suspect it's just a troll. 14:42, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

  • You haven't heard of dynamic IP's have you? Mine changes everytime I reset my wireless router for example. There is another 2.96.XXXXXX that posts a lot, maybe his IP has swapped to the above. 14:54, November 15, 2012 (UTC)
  • 124: User 41 has heard of dynamic IP addressing. He just chooses to pretend he hasn't. He knows full well that my IP address changes frequently & that it's because my ISP assigns a new IP address every time I connect to the internet. (I've even found my address changing in the middle of leaving a message for another user on this site.) I can be quite certain that 41 knows about dynamic IP addressing because I told him about it when he accused me of trying to pretend to be several different people. If he follows that route, this time, he may try to claim that you & I are the same person. For your information, my address is usually either 2 (not always 2.96...; there's at least one example on this page of me being 2.101...) or 89 but is sometimes 78 or 92. To complicate matters, an IP address that has been mine on one occasion is quite likely to have been allocated to other users on other occasions. Again, User 41 is fully aware of this but often chooses to ignore the information, if he thinks doing so will aid him in causing trouble. -- 16:06, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

No. You are once again making unfounded accusations. All this shows is how twisted your own mind is. 17:08, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, first of all, 2.96, you shouldn't have called 41 a twit. That does go against our personal attacks policy, but I am going to let you off with a warning, because 41 was being even less civil. 41, you are the one making unfounded accusations, by accusing 2.96 of lying about his identity. I am also letting you off with a warning, but if you continue to leave pointless accusations like that on forum pages, then I will have to block you.Icecreamdif (talk) 19:15, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Inappropriate language Edit

User 41 needs to be told to watch his language. See Forum:Can anyone explain the outfits these two Time Lords are wearing in these pics? & look for the last sentence of his contribution timed 09:57, November 17, 2012 (UTC). It's easy to recognise because he's made a complete hash of the formatting. -- 11:48, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry. I said "I don't know what the fuck Marc Platt was trying to do with Ghost Light". I should have phrased that differently. But 89 is going out of his/her way to try and make me out to be a troll/vandal. It is reaching stalker levels. 11:57, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

As I have explained on his talk page, I have given 41 a 24 hour block for his behavior.Icecreamdif (talk) 18:35, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

I note that, in his response to the block on his own User talk page, 41 has made a further reference to his "stalker" accusation, above. If anyone is out to get 41 permanently blocked as "a troll/vandal", it would seem to be 41 himself.

The whole tenor of his response, including his very belated claim that one (out of very many) of his hostile comments was a "joke", shows that he is unconcerned about the offence he has caused but is concerned solely about being penalised for it.

I'm not seeking to have a further block imposed on him for any of that response but he really does need to be made aware that his troubles are of his own making. If he doesn't get that message, you probably will end up having to block him. Unfortunately, I don't think there's even the smallest chance that he'd get the message if it came from me. (My IP address has changed again, of course, but I'm still the same person as when I was 89, yesterday.) -- 22:06, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. I doubt that 41 will believe this but I'll say it anyway, just in case he's more openminded than I'm giving him credit for: I'm not seeking to get 41 blocked; I'm seeking to get him to stop the behaviour that's liable to get him blocked. -- 22:31, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Firstly, there is nothing "belated" about anything I said. I do not spend all my time on this site, and as soon as I actually saw the accusation, I addressed it. Nexr, the reason I never knew what the accusation was, was because you never specified what it was that upset you. Once you did, I could respond(when I am on here that is). And, if I offended you, I am sorry, but it was absolutely was intended as a harmless joke. Because it obviously was one person with two IPs, as you yourself stated, and as the behaviour/edit patterns make clear, but as it was two different names, I joked that it was two people. Again, it was never intended to upset anyone.

Now, here's the main thing. Since, 2.101 read my talk page he would have seen that there I asked him to specify what it is that offending him so severely. And he failed to fo that here or there. he merely states that I am being "hostile'. The two examples given were the IP joke, and the fact that I used a 4-letter word without thinking that there are kids on here. Both have been addressed. But he is still posting here, without backing up anything he is saying. I, on the other hand, have pointed out his personal insults "twit", and inapproprioate phrasing, such as accusing me of being "frantic" or "bleating". Those remarks os his are certainly inapprppriate language and very hostile. Yet, he is the one reporting me for hostility, yet failing to actually state what "hostile" remarks I made. Because I never made any. I made the IP joke, that unfortunately he took the wrong way(not the way it was intended), and then the "f" word, which I was blocked for. So why is 2.101 continuing to "report" me, when I haven't even been on for over a day, because of the block? The only other thing that I could have done that is possibly "hostile" is the accusation of stalking, yet 2.101 relebntless reporting of me when I haven't even been able to post/edit does seem to back that up. I do not wish for any unpleasantness. Yes, I made a mistake when I said "f***", and I was blocked for that. But, now 2.101 is out to get me to "stop the behaviour that's liable to get [me] blocked". Of course, he never mentions what that behaviour actually is. He did however, accuse me of "bleating" and called me a "twit" 05:19, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

41: There's an old piece of advice that you should consider very carefully: When you find you're in a hole, stop digging. (My IP address is back to being 89, intead of 2.) -- 05:45, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

Erm. Once again, you have accused me of inappropriate/hostile behaviour, but have failed to actually state what that behaviour is. Also you stop digging comes across as hostile. Now the thing is that you want me to cease a certain sort of behaviour, yet you have completely failed to actually state what that behaviour is. All you have done is make personal comments. 05:55, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

Icecreamdif: I've read your 06:06, November 19, 2012 (UTC) message to 41 on his talk page. Please take a look at Imamadmad's comments of 05:33, November 16, 2012 (UTC) on the page Forum:Site's Policies, especially her point 2. The problem I have now is that I cannot tell 41 what is wrong because even the mildest expression runs the risk that he will accuse me of making personal attacks & I cannot be sure that any word which is capable of communicating the problem will be safe to use. I cannot even be sure that giving an example in quotes won't be taken as offensive.

I realise that you're trying very hard to be fair to 41. The effect, however, is that communication is prevented. The problem we have with him is his personal behaviour. Any criticism of it or any description of what is wrong with it is, unavoidably, going to be personal. He seems currently to have been given a license to complain about any such comment, no matter how carefully phrased. His complaint, above, is an example. There was nothing whatever hostile in my 05:45, November 19, 2012 (UTC) advice to him. Perhaps you could explain to him that it was an attempt to suggest he desist from getting himself into further difficulties. -- 07:15, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

User Edit

This user has posted a substantial number of questions that have had to be tagged for deletion. Many are simply spam, posted for the purpose of letting him answer them himself. Some, however, would be reasonable in the Watercooler but don't belong in the Q&A space of the site. I posted a message to User talk:, suggesting that he start a topic in the Watercooler & explaining why. He replied by creating another "question" (Water cooler, takes to long to post,I rather just ask questions) which has, of course, been tagged for deletion, though not by me -- someone beat me to it.

Another user has also posted a message on this user's talk page about his self-answered questions & asking him to desist.

You might want to take a look at 95's talk page & his contributions & perhaps add your voice to those asking him to change his ways. -- 19:08, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Your thoughts on number of admins Edit

Hello. I have posted a request on the wikia community for both myself and Imamadmad to be promoted to admin level here. I see that you have done a greta job trying to restore order here. The problem is, however, there is only one of you, you obviously can not monitor the site 24 hours a day every day, and trolls/vandals are appearing all the time.

I would be interested in your thoughts on this. I am also posting on Imamadmad's talk page to join the discussion here. The wikia link is Master of Spiders (talk) 06:10, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

Policy discussion -- Main page Edit

You've moved the topic about "stupid" questions into the "Speak now..." section. I agree. However, my original suggestion was that we'd specify a cut-off date, so that people would know how much time they had left to comment. It probably won't be this topic that it happens with but, if we don't specify a cut-off date, we'll sooner or later get someone complaining that they wanted to comment but the thing got finalised before they expected it to. My thought was that we'd allow 1 week. You might think that excessive, though. -- 07:43, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Before I forget to mention it: Once a topic has made it into the "Closed" section, should the page for that topic be locked? -- 17:29, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

That sounds fair enough. Maybe we should wait for at least 3 contributors to agree to move it to the "Speak now..." section before we move it there, and then we should move it from there to the "closed" section after a week if there are no further contributions. Locking them once they are closed may also be a good idea.Icecreamdif (talk) 04:38, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

Considering that there seem to be only 4 of us actually contributing, moving the thing when 3 agree should be safe enough. -- 16:25, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Deleting categories Edit

Yesterday, I marked some category pages for deletion from looking through the category list, and you deleted them. However, the categories are still on Special:Categories with links under them and still seem to be working categories (see, for example, the one called Says who? and the page that's in it which still retains the category link down the bottom of it's page). Is there a way of deleting them properly? Also, how should categories be tagged if one was to tag them properly (I think I tagged them the wrong way [as a page instead of as a category because I didn't know how to do that] which is probably the cause of this problem)? Thanks, Imamadmad (talk) 10:22, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that, I'll do it now. Imamadmad (talk) 05:59, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Stray question marks Edit

Stray question marks have started appearing unpredictably when contributions are published. Have you any idea where they're coming from? Has Wikia inflicted on us another bug? (Note: There ought to be only 2 of the things in this message.) -- 11:29, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I'm assuming that you are referring to the fact that questions sometimes end with two question marks. That is because a question mark is automatically added to the end of all questions. So, for example, I might ask "Who is the Doctor" and it would appear as "Who is the Doctor?". However, some people don't realize this and add the question mark to the end themselves, asking "Who is the Doctor?". It then appears as "Who is the Doctor??". There is not much that we can do about this apart from renaming the questions, although I guess we could leave a message someplace noting that it is unnecessary to end questions with a question mark. Or, are you referring to a different problem? If that is the case, then can you send me a link to an example of the problem?Icecreamdif (talk) 15:47, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Nevermind. I just saw a forum page where that happenned. It would seem to be a bug.Icecreamdif (talk) 15:53, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I had one contribution of my own where random question marks appeared as soon as I published it. When I pressed Edit again, intending to remove them, they vanished from the visual editor but still showed up in Preview. Eventually, I had to edit in source mode to exterminate the things. (I was 89 but I'm 2 this time.) -- 23:00, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Congratulations and thanks Edit

Thanks for the congrats. And congratulations to you for getting bureau rights. Master of Spiders (talk) 05:49, December 1, 2012 (UTC)

41 and personal attacks Edit

There has recently been a discussion which has found its way to my talk page where accusations of personal attacks have started flying. Now, the subject of the discussion is irrelevant (although you can probably guess the subject by the fact that 41 is the person in question here), however the person who was claiming to be victim of the personal attacks has said that you have warned the attacker (41.something) before about it multiple times. Now, since you are the person who has given the previous warnings, I think it should be your judgement call as to what to do about this; another warning or a block, or maybe you might not classify this as a personal attack at all and therefore nothing needs to be done. Imamadmad (talk) 22:14, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Signature confusion Edit

In the last couple of days, my signature consistently showed as, although this was not my IP address according to "Who am I". This is the same signature as another user.

On the page Talk:Why did the master leave gallifrey, there are two comments showing the signature One of these, dated 14:57, December 6, 2012 (UTC), was posted by me. The other, dated 08:28, December 7, 2012 (UTC), was posted by someone else.

At 09:59 today, I edited Why does the Tardis make the sound & that edit was logged as being by

I started to leave a message pointing out the confusion that's likely to result from two (or maybe more) users appearing to be the same user. When I used Preview, I found that my signature had stopped showing & had reverted to matching my actual current IP address. I'm usually either 89.something or 2.something but am currently

I have no idea whatever why this is happening. It's obvious, however, that it's going to cause problems by making it appear as if contributions from different users are all from the same user. I am therefore posting a copy of this message to all 3 currently active admins to alert you to the situation. -- 10:55, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

The Future of the Categories Edit

I am leaving this message on the talk pages of all users listed as sysops for this wiki at Special:Listadmins.

The future of the categories has come into question, and we are nearing the final decision as to what to do with them, mainly should they stay or should they go. Please read and cast your vote at Forum:Eliminate the categories now. As an admin of this site, it would be best to hear your voice before closing the discussion and acting on the decisions that have been made there. If you don't voice your opinion now, please do not complain about not being able to later.

PS, Icecreamdif, as one of the three most active recently admins, I'm not going to close this discussion until both you and Master of Spiders (the other most active recently admins apart from myself) have had your say, so please reply. Imamadmad (talk) 19:50, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Could you check out a situation? Edit

Hey Icecreamdif, if you by chance recieve this before more drastic action is done, can you please have a look at the conversation between me and 89 (under the IP of 78 this time) on our talk pages (my replies were to whatever IP he signed with last on my page). It will probably require action by a bureaucrat or higher. And for more context please see the discussion thread on the categories. CzechOut seems to have been doing a lot of big changes without community consent, including giving himself bureaucrat status, which means I can't do anything about it. So, hopefully you have email noification turned on so you recieve this, but something needs to be done and it would be better if it could be solved locally without having to go to Wikia. Imamadmad (Contact me) 18:24, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Well, of course, you don't have the user rights to strip CzechOut of bureaucrat status. So even if you've taken away admin rights that doesn't mean a whole lot since bureaucrats have admin powers anyway.
I'm not sure what exactly how "community consensus" would exactly apply in this situation. If we put it up to a vote and CzechOut failed to get community consensus, that would mean that CzechBot would be an admin and CzechOut wouldn't be. How do you propose I practically divide myself? In order to carry out the work of the bot, I do need to sometimes be within the GUI while at the same time as being in the bot's terminal interface. Are you okay with me making admin edits with CzechBot in the GUI that are hidden to Special:RecentChanges?
czechout@fandom    22:09: Wed 27 Feb 2013
I did not make myself an admin. I asked you on 21 December. Then I asked Imamadmad later. She asked for bureaucrat status to be granted to my account. I strongly resent the implication that I "made myself" anything. Or that I circumvented some sort of community process where none existed. Making any account I control an bureaucrat means, completely logically, that I — the real person behind the accounts — am a bureaucrat. That is not an opinion or a point of view. That is a practical fact. I am one person. I do not have a schizophrenic personality, with one side operating CzechBot and another aspect operating CzechOut. My user page at Tardis and most other places I edit makes it very clear that I consider the sum of my edits under CzechBot and CzechOut as the totality of the edits I am making to a wiki. I will not be saddled with the mistaken opinion that I proceeded in a way that could not have been predicted, or that I did anything wrong — particularly when the net effect of the move is to make my actions more transparent. It is completely unreasonable for anyone to consider the two accounts as separate entities.
czechout@fandom    00:20: Thu 28 Feb 2013

Hi Icecreamdif,

I've been ill for a while. I see that there have been changed a lot of things on the Wiki, and I don't understand how the new Forums work. Could you please help me? 16:59, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

CzechOut making unfounded personal attack Edit

Please see User talk:Imamadmad#CzechOut making unfounded personal attack. -- 03:52, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

Your input would be greatly appreciated Edit

Hi Icecreamdif, I was wondering if you could add your opinion to a problem as an outside (and therefore neutral) observer. A user using an IP of has complained about an inappropriate block by User:Master of Spiders and asked me to look into repealing it. I have given my response to the evidence at 70's talk page (linked above), but would really appreciate it if you could add your voice as well, no matter what your opinion on the subject is. More than one outside voice is preferable in resolving a situation such as this, and you of all people are probably the most qualified to be a second voice, given you are a bureaucrat as well as having used to be a very active contributor to the site and engaging in the preliminary discussions which lead to the forming of what is now the policies page. Any contribution would be appreciated. Thanks! Imamadmad (Contact me) 06:07, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

You're back!Edit

Hey Icecreamdif! I see you've decided to come back for a bit. Welcome back! Just wondering, are you thinking of sticking around? If you are, I'll move you from "inactive" to "active" on Doctor Who Answers:Administrators and DWA:POLICIES and start pulling you into wiki discussions. That is, if you want to. Anyway, glad to see your username popping up again, and I hope you feel you can stick with us! Imamadmad (Contact me) 07:47, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

I don't know what you have been updated on so far, so I'll just tell you most of the things that have happened since last December, the last time your contributions show you were actively editing for a reason other than somebody calling you back specifically for something. Well, DWA:POLICIES was finished and stuff has been added throughout the year. We also have some help pages, although more would be better if you want to add some. We also now have a system for referencing the answers of questions. Categories are now being used more and are wanted for every question. I would also suggest adding this piece of code to your own personal CSS so you can see when a category page hasn't been properly created (ie there are questions with the category but there is no actual category page connecting the category to the category tree and it does not have {{Categorylist}} on it, which is a template solution to one of the major category bugs). Even if you don't actively do much with the categories, it's a good thing to be able to see. We have also sadly recently demoted Master of Spiders after a year of problems with blocks, although if he can prove that he will do better in the future, there is a chance for re-promotion. That's all the important things I can think of for now. We also activated the new forums at the beginning of this year, so now all important policy discussions and the like can be found at Board:Policies and site running. Feel free to add to anything there, even discussions which seem to have gone cold long ago, if you feel there's anything more to add. I think the forums should be reasonably self-explanatory, although if you need any help I'll be happy to give it.
I think that's all you need to be caught up on. Once I've posted this message I'll move you to the active section on the pages that need it. Even if you can only come around once a week, that would be brilliant, especially now we're one admin down. Oh, and I would also appreciate it if you could have a look at and maybe reply to Thread:57013 sometime soon, because I would like to put up the Christmas background around the 15th.
See you around! Imamadmad (Contact me) 02:31, December 13, 2013 (UTC)

Admin nominations: Please add your voice!Edit

Hey Icecreamdif! Could you please have a quick look at Doctor_Who_Answers:Admin_applications#S.H.I.E.L.D._Bot and give your opinion? Thanks! Imamadmad (Contact me) 09:24, December 30, 2013 (UTC)

Doctor Who Wiki NetworkEdit

Please have a look at Thread:60863 and express your opinions on the idea of a network joining the various Doctor Who wikis on Wikia and whether DWA should join it. Thanks! Imamadmad (Contact me) 13:21, January 19, 2014 (UTC)

New thread in Policy forum Edit

Because of some of the questions I've found while going through the unanswered ones, I've started a thread on the Policy & site running board: Questions in the form "What happens in (episode)?" -- How should we deal with them?

So far, only Master of Spiders & I have posted there but the thread's only a few hours old. Please have a look at it & see if you've any comments to make.

I've copied this message to the other active admins but please pass it on to anyone you think should have their attention drawn to the thread. -- 22:17, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

Who is The Doctor? - Updates needed Edit

The answer to Who is The Doctor? is now seriously outdated, following the 50th Anniversary Special &c. I've posted draft updates at Talk:Who is The Doctor#Suggested changes. Please take a look & see if you've any suggestions for additional updates and/or better wording of those I've suggested. -- 10:35, February 28, 2014 (UTC)

Proposed change to NOTBBC policy Edit

Please take a look at Suggested addition to DWA:NOTBBC. -- 07:25, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

User has started Another DWA:NOTBBC suggestion that ought to be looked at in conjunction with the above. -- 22:24, April 16, 2014 (UTC)
