The Eleventh Doctor used "cup-a-soup" as an analogy for the Zygons' plan to store themselves away in 3-D paintings until the Earth had advanced to their standards and was ready to invade, much like cup-a-soup is kept on a shelf until one is ready for it. The War Doctor referenced this as the Doctors were forming their plan to push Gallifrey into a pocket dimension, even though he didn't entirely understand the reference. ("The Day of the Doctor")
