This page needs a major clean up or extra information added because
Answer needs to be updated to fit in with the events of "The Day of the Doctor" & merged into the better phrased question When was the Last Great Time War?

The exact "dates" have yet to be spelled out, however the bulk of the war is assumed to have taken place sometime between "Doctor Who" and "Rose", and presumably during the Eighth Doctor's life. However, Russell T. Davies, fans of the series, as well as the writers of the 2005 BBC Radio production "The Dalek Conquests" suggest the Time War began with the events of "Genesis of the Daleks".

  • It should also be noted that the event above is known as the "Last Great Time War" as other similar conflicts took place over history, including a Time War that was the focus of a number of Eighth Doctor novels published under the BBC Books Eighth Doctor Adventures line. Davies has stated that the Time War depicted on TV is a separate conflict than the one in the novels.
