All of the Doctor's first thirteen incarnations were in the story but most appeared only very briefly. The main action involved three incarnations: the "War Doctor" (played by John Hurt), the Tenth Doctor (played by David Tennant) & the Eleventh Doctor (played by Matt Smith).

A character known as the Curator (played by Tom Baker) also appeared & was heavily hinted -- but not explicitly confirmed -- to be a future incarnation of the Doctor.
