Roger Delgado as the Master

In the television series it is the Third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee (from "Terror of the Autons" through to "Frontier in Space").

In "The Dark Path" (Virgin Missing Adventures novel), the Second Doctor met the Delgado Master earlier (for both of them) than the Third Doctor's first encounter with him.

In the BBC novel "Legacy of the Daleks" (novel) the Eighth Doctor and the Delgado Master meet each other out of sequence. The same happens with the Twelfth Doctor and the Delgado Master in "Doorway to Hell" (Doctor Who Magazine comic story).
