Ood Sigma appears as a hallucinogenic warning to the Doctor that 'his song is ending' as told to him in "Planet of the Ood" - the first warning of David Tennant's last episodes.

The Ood sent a message via unknown means (probably based off their telepathy) in order to summon the Doctor to the Odd Sphere due to the Doctor's impending death and the apparent end of time.
